Fathers Day Gift Ideas

Why are men so hard to shop for? Sorry dad, if you’re reading this, but it’s true. Every Father’s Day (and birthday and Christmas for that matter) I end up with the same conundrum: What do I get my dad?! What do I get my husband?! Well, we’ve got some unique Father’s Day gift ideas for the difficult to shop for dad. And I have to say… they’re pretty unique and if I were a dad, I’d be excited about receiving any of these items. If you find yourself in the same predicament, take a look at these unique Father’s Day gift ideas.

  1. Statesman Ties

Do you follow our #TheAmericanMomsFridayFavorites on Instagram? If not, you should. We posted about Statesman Ties recently because we love them so much. The makers behind these ties wanted to make a tie with meaning, and that just so happens to be their motto: A tie that means something. Just about every state and country flag has been stylishly fashioned into a tie. They’re classy, well made, and if your dad has a state or country that means a whole lot to him, get him one of these ties. We may have bought our own dad a few of these for Father’s Day. You can get a 15% discount using code TheAmericanMoms.

    Paint Me in Painting

  2. Eric Dowdle Paintings

You’re probably all familiar with Eric Dowdle’s famous/infamous puzzles. They’re so popular, you can find them just about everywhere from local gift shops to Costco. Eric Dowdle’s paintings are best known for their creative spin on cities around the world. And you can even put yourself (or you know, your dad) in one of his paintings. Seriously. You can send in a picture of an individual or a family and they’ll put you into whatever painting or puzzle you choose. So if you’re looking for a unique Father’s Day gift in art form, this one promises to be a hit. You can find them here.

    The American Spirit

  3. The American Spirit book

If your dad is a big reader, this Father’s Day gift idea is for you. You can’t possibly go wrong by adding David McCullough’s latest book, The American Spirit: Who We Are and What We Stand For to your dad’s collection. If you’re not familiar with David McCullough’s work, he’s basically the greatest historian of our time. He’s addressed Congress, the White House, won two Pulitzer Prizes, two National Book Awards, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, as well as addressed numerous colleges and universities throughout the U.S. The American Spirit is a collection of his greatest speeches given over the last 25 years. The book is designed to identify important principles and characteristics that are uniquely American. “The American Spirit reminds us of core American values to which we all subscribe, regardless of which region we live in, which political party we identify with, or our ethnic background.” You can buy the book hereSenior Pass National Parks

  4. Senior Pass to National Parks

Does your dad travel a lot? If so, this Father’s Day gift idea is for you. Did you know our National Park system offers lifetime senior passes? All those park entrance fees can add up. This pass gets you into more than 2,000 federal sites. It covers all entrance fees and day use recreation fees. It also provides discounts on some expanded amenity recreation fees. So, if your dad is 62 years or older, snag him one of these. If you happen to travel with him, there are benefits for you too! Traveling companions can also enter for FREE! Those senior passes admit the pass owner and their passengers (up to three adults, and all children under 16) in at no extra charge. Pretty cool, right? The pass costs $80 and you can sign up for one here.

  5. Mount Rubsmore: All American Seasonings

Does your dad like to grill? Every summer evening our dad was out firing up his charcoal bar-b-que to grill meat for dinner. If your dad appreciates a good piece of seasoned meat, this gift is for him. We learned about Mount Rubsmore from Rachel over at the 3 in 30 Podcast (thanks Rachel!). These seasonings are a play off Mount Rushmore and include seasonings like George Srirachington: Hail to the Chef, Thomas Jeffersalmon: Long Tom Silver, Aburgerham Lincoln: The Gettysburger Address, and Theodore Roastevelt: The Rub Rider. Really, I’m not sure how you can top a gift like this. 🙂

  6. Goldbelly: America’s Most Iconic Food Shipped Straight to Your Door!

My husband has a deep love (no pun intended) for Chicago deep dish pizza. But, we don’t go to Chicago often. I have a thing for Bouchon Bakery macarons, but we don’t go to their iconic locations  in NYC, Napa and Las Vegas often. Imagine my surprise when after a trip to Vegas this past winter (where I literally licked every crumb of Bouchon’s jumbo salted caramel macarons ), I went home and googled how to buy those beloved macarons and came across a company called Goldbelly. Its whole mission is to get those iconic foods you love shipped straight to your door. Most of the companies/restaurants where these foods come wouldn’t ship their food to you–you’d have to travel there in person–but thanks to Goldbelly, those food items you love so much can be yours without stepping a foot on an airplane. They’ve got everything from Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding, New York City’s famous bagels, BBQ from St. Louis, and yes, even those Chicago deep dish pizzas my husband loves. So, why not kill two birds with one stone and treat the father in your life to a food he goes crazy over but maybe doesn’t get to enjoy often enough. It can double as a memorable Father’s Day gift and a meal that day all in one perfectly yummy bite.

  7. Loom Journals: Connecting with Your Children Off-Screen

If you’re looking for a unique way your husband/father can connect with his children (besides through video games), you need to know about Loom Journals. They offer a unique experience between a parent and their children that when finished will become an heirloom you’ll treasure for generations. Designed by a group of three mothers who wanted to help families connect in more meaningful ways, the whole idea behind the journals is to foster off-screen communication with your children through something called connective journaling. The unique journals provide a space to strengthen relationships through answering questions, doing activities, and opening up conversations with each other. Head over to Loom Journals and use code AMERICANMOMS15 for 15% off your purchase.
